Mobility and Recovery

Mobility and Recovery

Rob, Charlie and Sue just returned from the CrossFit Mobility and Recovery certification in Atlanta. Led by Kelly Starett, a Dr. of Physical Therapy, the seminar was a performance-oriented workshop for athletes and coaches wishing to develop effective mobility and flexibility strategies, improve ideal athlete positioning and movement set-up and implement whole-body maintenance practices.

It was unanimous – they loved it! They all learned how to better engage the core before lifting, the importance of midline stabilization, stretching techniques and more. A main point that Rob brought back is that we MUST make more time for stretching, ideally when the body is warm. We are all guilty of neglecting to stretch. So, let's work on that!

Rob, Sue and Charlie will fill everyone in on Saturday after the WOD and show you some stretches and give advice.

Workout of the Day

Run or row a 5K

AMRAP in 20:
5 hang power cleans (135/95)

Sue thanks for the coaching on the sprints during our 5k row! Awesome job on the motivation; you kept me challenged and rowing hard.

Gina, my pleasure it was fun rowing with everyone! I heard Sandy throwing a couple comments at you, I think we all motivated each other and Debbie great way to finish!! A lot of SiSu going on this morning, love this Finnish word, Sari mentioned it to me months ago and it is on the Crossfit main sight today. Are you and Sandy standing at work? I will try padded bike shorts next time!

Wendy or Rob, I think I am going to be doing a WOD at home after I get off work. I was thinking of doing 30 double unders, 30 squats, 30 sit ups, and 30 lunges times 4 rounds. Do you think that is a good one? It is similiar to one Chris gave me before minus pull-ups cause I can’t do those at home.
