Remaining as Paleo as possible, and certainly gluten-free, in social situations is doable. A regular night out at to dinner should be Paleo. Save your cheats for the big events/holidays/parties, but keep your cheats gluten-free.
Kristi threw a CrossFit, primal-themed bachlorette party for Tara last weekend. Everyone bought a gluten-free dish and/or drink. While the party wasn't Paleo (there was alcohol and sugar), it was gluten-free. It takes the body several days to recover from a big gluten binge, so we didn't want to set Tara up for disaster when she's watching her weight for her big day.
Our menu included tuna sashimi salad, bacon-wrapped dates, goat cheese stuffed dates, sliders with gluten-free buns, guacamole, a gluten-free cake, wine and punch. I didn't hear one complaint about the food!
