Attitude is Everything
On Friday at 5 AM, I judged John Y. on 12.3. He didn't do as well as he had hoped and the push presses were his limiting factor. I had to "no rep" him a few times on the push presses and once on the box jumps. He never flinched, just made it count the next time.
I want to share with you an email I received afterwards. I love John's attitude.
Thank you for your help and coaching today during the Open WOD. Yet again another weak area I need to work on. I underestimated that WOD, it was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. Thanks for calling it like I did it. These kind of situations only make me stronger.
John will continue to grow as a CrossFitter because he was not defeated by 12.3, rather motivated to get better. The Open has us comparing ourselves to others. It can be a humbling experience. Those of us that take it as a learning experience and use it as motivation to push past barriers will be better off for it, in CrossFit and in "real life."
