Member Spotlight – Michael Ott

Mike celebrates four years with us this month. He joined CFVB as soon as he moved to town from Arkansas and quickly brought in his wife, Rose, then his children in the Kids program. What a CrossFit family!

Mike has always been a positive light in the gym. Continually upbeat, hard-working, humble and positive.

A few months back, he was diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma and underwent surgery to have it removed. Luckily, it hadn’t spread beyond what was operable and is now cancer-free!

We love our Mike! Here’s a little more…

Occupation: Administrative Pastor at First Church of God

Family: Married 12 years to the wonderful and ever entertaining Rose. Sophia – 10, and David – 8 years.

Favorite CrossFit movement or workout: Sled push, rope climbs, snatches, and short sprint workouts of any sort.

Favorite cheat meal: Margarita pizza from South Beach Pizza and Kilwins Cappuccino Chocolate Chip ice cream (I just gained 2 lbs. just thinking about it)

Hobbies: Sand volleyball, swimming, biking, KRAV Maga, water skiing, fishing, SCUBA, anything fun with my kidoos.

Little known fact about you: Growing up as a competitive swimmer, I was an Olympic hopeful for the 1984 Games and still hold a swimming record in the state of Arkansas.
