Benefits of Massage

Benefits of Massage

Massage can be extremely beneficial to athletes. And I don't mean "relaxing" massage with sugar scrubs, candles and Enya music. I'm talking a hurts-so-good, deep tissue, rehabilitative massage to work out adhesions, tight muscles and any other issues brought about by working out hard.

In a nutshell, massage can:

  • Maintain the body generally in better condition.
  • Prevent injuries and loss of mobility.
  • Cure and restore mobility to injured muscle tissue.
  • Boost performance.
  • Reduce pain
  • Reduce anxiety

If you are having aches and pains, here's your call to action: Our very own Charlie Clendening is a massage therapist who specializes in rehab and athletes. If you'd like to schedule a massage with him, call 569.3499 to set up an appointment. You will be so glad you did!

      Charlie and Sue,
I have several herniated discs in my neck and back and deep tissue massage was the only thing that ever seemed to help me. I have been meaning to start getting them again but I just haven’t had the money. I would be really interested in making an appt. sometime soon. I have so many aches and pains from sitting at a desk all day. I also have a lot of numbness and poor circulation. I’ve heard good things about Charlie, maybe he can help!

I spoke with Charlie and he said you will probably only need a half hour. He can work on the trigger points where your problems are in that time frame. He charges $35.00 for a half hour. I have had the numbness myself from my elbow, forearm to wrist and the massage helps. Usually I find it started somewhere else and worked its way to my elbow etc. Are you doing the WOD today? If so what time & he will try and talk with you then.

Yea I will be there from about 5:30 to 6:30. I’m doing the 3-3-3-3-3 thing then a little bit of rowing before my softball game.

I came in this morning to work out and my back was so stiff I couldn’t move without a cringe! Charlie did some kind of work to my back this AM and it realllllly made feel better..Thanks Charlie

Wendy, thank you for posting the benefit of massage and making everyone aware of how important massage is. Wendy is right, no candles and sugar scrubs here! Sib, Charlie is glad he was able to help you and Tara I hope he was able to get over to Crossfit and see you tonight.

Did you say the best routine is 3 days on/1 off? I pulled my hip at softball tonight so I am going to go swim at Jungle Club in the morning instead…maybe it will loosen things up. Good timing on the massage post, I just had my monthly deep tissue last night! I need another one know with this hip. Rolling your car 7 times on Interstate 95 can do crazy things with your spine, let me tell you! 🙂
