Shout Out to Gina
Sometimes, we look at some of our athletes and reflect back on how far they’ve come. Gina is one of those people. In the past 5 months at V+CFVB, she has greatly improved her fitness and mobility. In fact, she was unable to perform a proper air squat when she first started and now she is doing weighted back squats to full depth, getting stronger every day. She recently graduated to the 16″ box jump from using the steps. Her Oly lifts are improving each session. She has attended almost every one of Joe’s mobility sessions and she has also improved her diet.
Gina works full time, is a single mom and is very involved in her teenage son’s activities, so 5 AM is the only class she can make work in her hectic schedule. And, yet, she shows up, every day at 4:30 AM to thoroughly warm-up and prepare for the workout. She has a smile on her face and she works HARD.
We get excuses from people all the time – work, kids, lack of motivation, stress, family, etc. Every time we discuss an athlete who can’t seem to commit, Rob and I find ourselves saying “well, Gina finds the time…” Her “no excuses” attitude is truly inspiring – Gina exemplifies what CrossFit is all about!
